Part of the fledgling HBO cable channel's monthly series "On Location", which featured a different comedian or showcase for up and coming comics. Premiering in 1976, Freddie Prinze and friends was one of the rare chances to see some of Prinze's nightclub material, and featured five, relatively unknown comics: Jay Leno, Tim Thomerson, Elayne Boosler, Richard Belzer and Gary Mule Deer.
